He took up architectural study at Columbia's old School of Mines, and after graduating there in 1894 broadened the scope of his training at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris where he was awarded in 1896.
Following his return to the United States Mr Jacobs opened an architectural office in New York, and in the first phase of his career was commissioned to design several hotels and commercial buildinqs in the citv such as the Hardman-Peck Building; the Seville, Narseilles and Elysees Hotels’; Friars Club; and the P. W. French Building. He also won wide recognition in residential work, equally successful in designing urban homes and large country estates.
Mr. Jacobs had been a member of the New York Chapter, A. I. A. for twenty years also belonged to the Architectural League of New York and the Beaux Arts Society of Architects.
