Career
He played John Darling in the film Peter Pan, which is Newell"s only film cr, although he was credited with special thanks for Foreign Robbing the Dead. Newell attended Stagecoach classes for two-and-a-half years prior to being involved in Peter Pan. He was twelve years old when he was spotted by a casting director at school and invited to a Peter Pan workshop.
Filming for Peter Pan was in Australia.
While there, Newell was interested in the technical aspects of filmmaking, and the stunts. In 2004, Newell was nominated for the Young Artist Awards.
His category was "Best Performance in a Feature Film - Supporting Young Actor" for his performance as John.
