Active in whaling; organized the Whalemen’s Club, Incorporated, New York Bedford, Massachusetts. Purchased the “Charles West. Morgan” (oldest whaleship in the world) and interested others in forming “Whaling Enshrined, Indiana,” located at Round Hill, South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, where whaling relics and ship were on view until roads were destroyed and ship and dock damaged by hurricane, September 21, 1938.
Ship has been presented to Marine History Association, Mystic, Connecticut.
