Henry "Harry" Varley born in Cleckheaton/Bradford, was a rugby union and professional rugby league football player of the 1890s, playing representative level rugby union for England, and at club level for Liversedge, as a Scrum-half, id est (that is) number 9, and playing club level rugby league for Oldham, as a stand-off/five-eighth, or scrum-half/halfback, id est (that is) number 6, or, 7, alongside Arthur Lees from 1895.

He died in Oldham, Prior to Thursday 29 August 1895, Liversedge was a rugby union club International honours Change of Code When Liversedge converted from the rugby union code to the rugby league code on Thursday 29 August 1895, Harry Varley would have been 28 years of age. Consequently, he may have been both a rugby union and rugby league football player for Liversedge.
He also played for Oldham until 1897.
