He was graduated at the City High School, and after a course at the State Training School, studied architecture at Columbia University in New York.
Following his return to Toledo in 1895, Mr. Wachter established an office for practice under his own name, and carried on work alone until 1936 when he was joined by his son, Horace W.
Well known in his native city Mr. Wachter was awarded many important commissions. He is credited with the design of the Masonic Temple, Civic Auditorium, Commercial Bank Building, Women and Children's Hospital, two churches, the Monroe Street Baptist and the Washington Street Congregational, also numerous residences in the city and environs.
He was a member of the Toledo Chapter, A.I.A. after 1914, and taken into Institute Fellowship in 1935.
