Harry Zohn went to the Sperlgymnasium in the Leopoldstadt. He graduated from Suffolk University in Boston with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1946. Harry received his Master of Arts in Education from Clark University and a Doctor of Philosophy from Harvard University. In 1976 he was awarded the Doctor of Letters from Suffolk University.
Zohn taught at Brandeis University from 1951 to 1996. From 1969 he had been a professor of German. He also was chairman of the department of Germanic and Slavic languages twice for thirteen years. Harry Zohn was an adviser to German majors and coordinated scholarship programs of the German government. He also was an executive director of the Goethe Society of New England.
Zohn authored, edited and translated about 40 books. He wrote Karl Kraus and Austriaca and Judaica: Essays and Translations. He also translated dozens of works from German; some of these books include Sigmund Freud’s Delusion and Dream, The Complete Diaries of Theodor Herzl, and Hermann Langbein’s Against All Hope. He edited and translated a Tucholsky anthology and a collection of his satirical writings. Zohn was also the general editor of Austrian Culture series.

Harry Zohn played the viola with the Brandeis Symphony Orchestra.
Harry Zohn married Judith Ann Gorfinkle on September 3, 1962. The couple had two children - Steven David and Marjorie Eve.
