Background

Richardson, Harry Alden was born on January 1, 1853 in Camden, Delaware, United States. Son of Alden Bradford and Lucy (Mendall) Richardson.

Education

Public school education, Dover, Delaware, and East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

Career

Began trade as can maker at 16, in firm of Richardson & Robbins, of which father was head. Upon the death of Mr. Robbins, 1876, became member of firm, and head of same on death of father, 1894.

Served as president Dover Gaslight Company, Delaware Fire Insurance Company, Diamond State Telephone Сompany Candidate for government of Delaware, 1890. Elected United States senator, for term 1907-1913.
