Captain and Honourable Major 3rd Battalion S. Wales Borderers. Served with 2nd S. Wales Borderers in South Africa, January 1900 to September 1901 (despatches, D.S.O). Afterwards served with 3rd S. Wales Borderers, October 1901 to March 1902. Companion of the Distinguished Service Order lv00; of Newnham Hall, Northamptonshire; Chief Constable Radnorshire; e. son of Henry Bromtield of Newnham Hall (d. 188S) and Mary Elizabeth, e. d. of late John Colthurst of Chew Court, Somersetshire.
