A native of Ishikawa Prefecture, she attended the International Christian University in Mitaka, Tokyo and received a master"s degree from School for International Training in Vermont, United States and a Doctor of Philosophy in international business from Aoyama Gakuin University. She was elected for the first time in 2001. She is affiliated to the openly revisionist organization Nippon Kaigi.
