Hassanai Kongkeo

Background

Kongkeo was born on February 18, 1946 in Samut Songkhram, Thailand; the son of Hual and Anong (Naksompobe) Kongkeo.

Education

Kongkeo received a Bachelor of Science degree from Chulalongkorn University in 1968. A year later he earned his Master of Science degree from Mahidol University. In 1973, Hassanai was given a Master of Science degree from the University of Denver.

Career

Kongkeo began his career as a managing director at Saha Marine Products Company, Ltd in 1974. Nine years later he took the position of a project manager at World Bank/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Aquaculture Project. Then in 1985, Hassanai held the same position at the Food and Agriculture Organization Regional Seafarming Development and Demonstration Project, where he worked until 1987. In 1996 he was appointed a technical assistant to the director-general at Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific.

Membership

Kongkeo is a member of the World Aquaculture Society and Asian Fisheries Society.
