Together with Eihachiro Tanaka, he founded the Toyo Glass Company and other firms. Unlike other Zaibatsu his concern engaged in many kinds of enterprises with comparatively small capital. He was an adviser of the Oji Paper Manufacturing Company and president or director of the Hokkaido Electric Light, Jomo Electric Power and other firms totaling 20. Was selected as a member of the House of Peers (1931).
