Heizo Tatsumura was born in 1876 in Osaka, Japan.
At the age of 17, entered the weaving industry, and studied Nishijin and Hakata weaving methods.
Establishing an experimental factory at Nishijin (1897), exerted himself in the invention of textile fabrics and numerous patents. With assistance of scholars and painters such as Iwata Nakazawa, Goichi Takeda and Tadashi Asai kept studying the art of textile fabrics in spite of competition from the weaving industry and established a firm position in the reprinting of ancient cloths.
