Education

Shortal received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies from Yale University in 1986.

Career

Shortal began her career as an assistant producer of Holiday Parade Series on Maryland Public Television in 1986. A year later she took a position of a floor director of A.M. Weather on the same broadcasting service. Then in 1988, Helen became an editorial assistant at "In Motion" Company. Also she served as a staff reporter and associate editor at the same company from 1989 to 1990. In 1990 Shortal was appointed a technical editor at "In Motion" Company.
