This book provides social work students with the basic materials necessary to understand the different phases of research in the human services. Selected articles from recent social work journals and human service journals have been brought together to give the student, teacher, and practitioner examples of the different aspects of social work research. The book first examines the process of selecting a worthwhile research problem, of determining when and when not to do research, of selecting from among the various different types of study, and of formulating a specific question for research. The five sections cover: 1) Problem Formulation: The Keystone 2) Research Design and Sample Selection 3) Data Gathering 4) Evaluative Research 5) Analysis and Interpretation.
