Career
Specializing in number theory, much of his research concerns the distribution of prime numbers. He proved Maier"s theorem. Maier received his Doctor of Philosophy in 1981 from the University of Minnesota, with a dissertation on the application of sieve theory.
He is currently a professor at the University of Ulm.
