Hemanta Kumar Majumder, Indian biochemist, researcher. Achievements include research in leishmania; discovery of evolution of DNA topoisomerase I in kinetoplastid parasites; discovery of apoptosis in unicellular parasite Leishmania; discovery of DNA based polymerase chain reaction diagnostics of the disease Kala-azar; development of drug based on the enzyme DNA topoisomerases.
