Career
He was succeeded on 1 July 1960 by Joseph Kasavubu, the first President of independent Congo. Henri A A Cornelis was born in Oudenaarde (Belgium) 000000001910-09-18-0000September 18, 1910. Doctor of Philosophy in business studies from the University of Ghent, he left in 1934 as an officer for the Regional Office of the Belgian Congo.
In 1951 he was appointed commissioner of the Ten Year Plan, in 1953 Vice-Governor-General.
