In 1881 entered the office of W. H. Geissenger as a student-draftsman, later was associated with him in practice. In 1888 Mr. Dagit opened his own office and carried on his work alone for more than thirty years, during which he designed many and varied types of buildings, including churches, schools, private homes, commercial buildings and Roman Catholic convents and institutional buildings.
In 1922 he was joined by two sons, Henry D. Jr„ and Alfred F. Dagit in organizing a partnership, of which a third son, Charles E., became a member in 1925. Mr. Dagit had served as architect for the Catholic Diocese of Trenton, N. J., from 1898 to 1908, and in later years the firm established a reputation as specialists in Catholic church work.
Outside of Philadelphia the firm designed the Church of St. Catherine of Siena at Baltimore; the Pro-Cathedral at Atlanta, Ga., and the adjacent School.
