Engaged in lumber, timber lands and banking business, beginning in 1858 at Menasha, Wisconsin, where lived 20 years. Organized the Everett Land Company, the Everett National and re-organized First National Bank, and the Hewitt-Lombard Bank, the Everett Pulp and Paper Company and other mills in Wisconsin. One of principal organizers of Saint Paul & Tacoma Lumber Company, was its treasurer 15 years, now director
Now largest individual owner of lumber and coal lands in State of Washington, owning two billion foot of timber.
