Career
He also served as Modern Language Association for Oudtshoorn (1893-1898), and briefly in 1894 as Attorney General for the second government of Prime Minister Cecil Rhodes. He was a nephew of Karl Marx and the son of January Carel Juta, who founded the publishing house Juta and Company.
