Donated Rosenberg Sch. to City of Galveston (1886); bd. dirs. Galveston Orphans’ Home; vestryman Trinity Episcopal Ch.; contributed about half cost of Eaton Chapel, 1882.
Bequests to Galveston include: bldgs. for Island City Protestant and Israelitish Orphans’ Home, Grace Episcopal Ch., sites and bldgs. for Letitia Rosenberg Woman’s Home, YMCA, charity fund for German Lutheran Ch., 17 drinking fountains for men and beasts, $50,000 for Tex. Heroes’ Monument, a residuary legacy provided for endowment of free public library (Rosenberg Library opened, 1904, bronze statue of him placed in front of library, 1906).
