Career
In 1849, Spiering settled in Mayville, Wisconsin. Spiering was a printer and editor of the newspapers: Horicon Volksfreund and the Horicon News. Spiering served as chairman of the Williamstown, Wisconsin Town Board and as the Williamstown town treasurer.
He also served as clerk and president of the village of Maysville.
In 1879, 1883, and 1887, Spiering served in the Wisconsin State Assembly and was a Republican. Spiering died in Maysville, Wisconsin after a short illness.
