Background

Trefflich, Henry was born on January 9, 1908 in Hamburg, Germany, (came to the United States 1923, naturalized 1934). Son of Heinrich and Carolina (Jahn) Trefflich.

Education

Student in public schools, Hamburg.

Career

Animal dealer, 1928-1973, established Henry Trefflich Animal Company, 1931, set up agys. in Far East for collection of animals. Established collecting agys., West Africa, 1936, later worldwide. Pioneer importer of monkeys in large quantities for research, importation heavy livestock by air transport.

Importer monkeys National Foundation Infantile Paralysis, 1939-1942.
