In his native city, Mr. White began his career as a draftsman in the local office of Baldwin & Pennington. After 1904 when he formed a partnership with Howard M. Mottu, Mr. White continued practice in that association nearly thirty years, engaged in planning and executing many important commissions of both public and private work.
Among the notable examples of Mottu & White's works in Baltimore were the Stewart Office Building dating from 1905; the Marshall Winchester Bank (1912); Memorial Church and Parish buildings; Church of the Messiah (1921); Ascension and Prince of Peace Parish buildings on York Road for the Church of the Nativity (1922); St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church (1931); Baltimore Life Insurance Building (cost over $900,000), completed in 1929, and St. Mathias' Church (1935). The firm also designed the Donaldson school group (1915-1927) and Trinity Preparatory School buildings in Ilchester, Md., in 1935; St. James School near Hagerstown, Md. (1926), and in addition numerous residences and miscellaneous buildings in various locations.
After 1927 he practiced with his son, Henry S. Taylor White, Jr., under the firm name of H. S. T. White and Son.
A member ofter 1916 (and past-president) of the Baltimore Chapter, A. I. A., Mr. White attained a high professional reputation during a long career. I
