Henry Whitestone was born in 1825 in County Clare, Ireland.
He practiced architecture before migrating to America. In 1854 Mr. Whitestone established an office in Louisville, and for a number of years was one of the leading architects in the city. Noteworthy examples of his work include the Norval Green residence (c. 1855), now the home of the Y.M.C.A., the famous hostelry, Gaunt House, long since razed: and the Tompkins house, later taken over as Administration House of Nazareth College.
Mr. Whitestone continued practice until 1880, and following retirement turned over his practice to D. X. Murphy, formerly a draftsman in his office.
