American graphic designer and photographer who worked as art director at Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, and Show magazines. Wolf opened his own photography studio, Henry Wolf Productions, and he also taught magazine design and photography classes. Wolf was awarded the American Institute of Graphic Arts Medal for Lifetime Achievement, and inducted into the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame.


In his youth, he felt the compulsion to art.


He was one of the youngest design stewards at any national magazine.


  • He was inducted to the Art Directors Hall of Fame and the Royal Society of Arts in 1980. In 1989, he earned the Herb Lubalin Award from the Society of Publication Designers and was given a Doctor of Fine Arts by Parsons School of Design in 1996. He taught for many years at Parsons, the School of Visual Arts and Cooper Union in New York.
