In merc. business to 1889. Ordained ministry Methodist Episcopal Church, South, 1893. Pastor, Jackson, Louisiana, and professor Centenary College of Louisiana, 1900-1902.

President Centenary College of Louisiana, 1902-1903. Professor Biblical theology and English exegesis, 1903-1919, professor O.T. language and literature, since 1920, Vanderbilt University.
