Honorary mustered out, March 26, 1866. Bvtd. major, March 2, 1867, for gallant and meritorious services in action at Decatur, Alabama, and lieutenant colonel, March 2, 1867 for same at Nashville. Entered regular army as Second lieutenant 17th United States Infantry, May 11, 1866.
Promoted through grades to Lieutenant general United States of America, April 15, 1906. Retired, September 15, 1906.
