BAX-IRON SIDE, Henry George Outram was born on November 15, 1859. Son of late John Henry Bax-Ironside, Companion of the Bath, of Houghton - le - Spring, and Sarah Elizabeth, daughter of General Bulkeley Hughes of Llynon Hall, Company Anglesey.

Transferred Teheran, 1SS8. Vienna, 1891; Cairo, 1891. Washington, 1894; in charge of Central American Legation, 1897.
Secretary of Legation and Charge d’Affaires, Pekin, 1897. At Stockholm, 1900-1902. Minister Resident, Caracas, 1902-1907.
Minister Plenipotentiary to Chile, 1907-1908. Jubilee medal; has been granted allowances for knowledge of Turkish, Persian, and Arabic at various times. His (or Her) Majesty’s Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Switzerland, since 1909.
