Henry Gerber Reist

Background

Reist, Henry Gerber was born on May 27, 1862 in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, United States. Son of Henry B. and Catharine (Gerber) Reist.

Education

Educated country, high and state normal schools. Mechanical Engineering, Lehigh University, 1886, Eng.D., 1922.

Career

Early life on farm; engineer for Harrisburg Car Company, 1886-1888. Accompanied American Engineering Society on trip to England and Paris Exposition, 1899. Connected with the Thomson-Houston Elec.

Company, 1889, and in 1894, took charge of designs of alternating current machinery for General Electric Company. Since then has designed much of the most important electrical machinery in this country and abroad. Now retired.

Fellow American Society Mech. Engineers, American Institute of Elctrical Engineering, American Association for the Advancement of Science. Member Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi.
