Has been Vice-President of Royal Horticultural Society, and is Victoria Medallist of the same. President of Royal English Arboricultural Society.
Scientific member of Indian Embassy to Tibet, 1886. Represented Great Britain officially at Botanical and Horticultural Congresses at St. Petersburg and Amsterdam. Publications. A Monograph of the Genus Lilium.
