Returned to Turkey, 1844, conducted a mission, Constantinople (now Instanbul), 1844-1854, taught in Seminary (later Robert College), Bebek, Turkey.
Returned to the United States, 1849. Established mission station and theological seminary, Tokat, Turkey, 1854.
Returned permanently to the United States, 1869. Taught natural science, Greek and modern languages
