Holsman, Henry K. was born on July 3, 1866 in Dale, Guthrie County, Iowa, United States. Son of Henry and Louise (Kerchner) Holsman.

Education

Bachelor of Arts, Iowa (now Grinnell) College, 1891.

Career

Superintendent for contractors, Chicago, 1891-1893. Member Brainerd & Holsman, architects, 1893-1897. Alone since 1897; mechanic engineer to Independent Harvester Company, Plano, Illinois, 1910-1912.

Designed Bacteriol. Laboratory, University of Chicago, and many structures for colleges, also a number of chs. Specializes in fireproof apts. and hotels. Park commissioner of Ridge Park, Illinois, 1908-1909.

Member Brainerd & Holsman, architects, 1893-1897. Fellow American Institute Architects. Member Chicago Architectural.

Club (director and treasurer), Illinois Society Architects, Western Society Engineers, Chicago Association Commerce, Association of Arts and Industries (director), Municipal Art League (directory). Club: Cliff Dwellers (director and treasurer). Designed and patented Holsman” automobile, one model of which in continuous operation since 1900.
