Mccoy, Henry Kent was born on January 8, 1820 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. Son of Robert and Sarah (Read) Mccoy.
Graduated from College of New Jersey (now Princeton), 1839). Studied law under Joseph Henry Lumpkin.
Admitted to Georgia bar, 1842. Practiced in partnership with George H. Dudley, Americus, Georgia, 1842-1849, with Willis A. Hawkins, 1849-1861. Member Georgia Democratic Convention, 1860.
