Background

Benson, Henry Lamdin was born on July 6, 1854 in Stockton, California, United States. Son of Henry C. and Matilda M. (Williamson) Benson.

Education

Bachelor of Arts, University of the Pacific, Santa Clara, California, 1873, A.M., 1876.

Career

Admitted to California bar, 1878, and practiced at San Jose. Removed to Oregon; district attorney, 1st Oregon District, 1892-1896. Member Oregon House of Representatives, 1897.

Judge Circuit Court, 1st Judicial District of Oregon (state court), 1898-1915 (resigned). Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Oregon, January 4, since 1915.

Politics

God seeks to transform relationship with and between people. If politics is about how we choose to live together and to treat one another, there is surely a place for discerning the activity of God in politics.

Views

The very idea that one gender is superior to another should be rejected as well as the erroneous notion that members of one gender may receive love, power, and esteem only at the expense of another.
