BURKE, Henry Lardner was born on May 3, 1850 in Dublin. Son of late Reverend John Lardner Burke, Doctor of Laws, of Rutland Square, Dublin, and Marian, youngest daughter of late Reverend Henry Tweedy, Master of Arts. M Frances Charlotte, daughter of Samuel Bain, late of Portuguese Elizabeth, Cape Colony.

Career
Admitted as Advocate of Eastern Districts Court, 18S0. Crown Prosecutor in High Court of Griqualand, 1897-1902. Acted as one of the judges of Supreme Court, Cape Colony, July to September 1904, and November to December 1905.
