Pupil The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, and studied in Paris with Jean Paul Laurens Raphael Collin, and Whistler. Also studied some time in Madrid, Spain.
1 son, Henry Willard. Began as illustrator. Was for some time with Woman’s Home Companion.
Made debut in Paris Salon, 1901, with large picture, “The Bargain”.

Chase), “Chez Grand’mère,” “The Caress,” “Morning,” “The Brasses” (now in Wilstach collection, Memorial Hall Museum, Phila), “Henry and Jack,” “The Orange Robe,” “By the Fireside,” “Child and Cat” (bought by the French Government), “The Goldfish” (owned by Booth Tarkington), “The Samovar” (now in collection of Baron Edmond de Rothschild), “The Departure,” “Black and White” (now in municipal art collection, Grand Rapids, Michigan).
“Larkspurs” (bought by French Government). Has painted portraits, including, F. Doctorate. Roosevelt in Hyde Park Memorial, Secretary H. L. Ickes and 15 past secretaries of Interior for Interior Building, also Chief Justice Harlan F. Stone and Mistress Stone.
