January 25, 1877. Taught Latin, mathematics and English, Lafayette College, 1860-1861, 1865-1866. Practiced law New York, 1869-1876, at Los Angeles, California, since 1877. Senior member of law firm of Lee, Chase, Overton & Valentine, 1909-1910, Lee & Valentine, since 1910.

Special counsel for City of Los Angeles in water litigation, 1890-1907.

President Department Public Service, Los Angeles, since 1910.
