Cannon, Henry White was born on September 27, 1850 in Delhi, New York, United States. Son of George Bliss and Ann Eliza (White) Cannon.

Graduate Delaware Literature Institute, Delhi. Honorary Master of Arts, Dartmouth, 1899.

Career

Engaged in banking as clerk and teller, 1st National Bank, Delhi, New York. Moved to St. Paul, 1870, and became teller 2d National Bank. Organized, 1871, Lumberman’s National Bank, Stillwater, Minnesota, and was cashier and acting president until 1884.

Comptroller of the currency, United States, 1884-February 1, 1886. Vice president National Bank of the Republic, New York, February-October 1886. President Chase National Bank, 1886-1904, Chairman of the Board, 1904-1911, then director Was chairman clearing house committee, New York Clearing House Association.

Was aqueduct commissioner, New York. Delegate International Monetary Conference, Brussels, 1892.
