Career
Matriculated, 1884. Entered the law, 1885, and threw it up, 1886. Proceeded to Barberton, and spent 3 years prospecting for gold. Proceeded to Johannesburg in 1890, and took up gold-mining.
Was mine manager of Village Main Reef.
Joined the I.L.H. 18S9, as lieutenant. Attained rank of colonel, 1901.
Appointed Deputy Inspectorof Mines, Transvaal, 1902. Decorated for services during the campaign.
Imperial Light Horse.
