Herbert J. "Herb" Perez is a former United States Olympian in taekwondo and politician.

Background

Perez was born in New York City and attended law school at Rutgers Law School.

Career

He was a gold medalist in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Personal He did his undergraduate degree at William Paterson University. and earned a Masters at the University of Lyons. He competed at both the 1987 and 1991 World Taekwondo Championships, winning that Bronze medal each time.

As team head in the 2008 Summer Olympics he became involved in a scoring controversy.

He starred as himself (with the nickname "Olympus") on the 1995-1997 martial arts television series WMAC Masters.

Achievements

  • Perez became a City Councilman for Foster City, where he is the owner of Gold Medal In addition to his winning the Gold Medal in 1992 Olympics, Perez had an opportunity to become a member of the 1988 Olympics, but missed it due to a mental error.
