He attended the city schools of Chicago , and in 1896 entered the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a student in architecture.
Following graduation three years later, Mr. Riddle returned to Chicago, and in 1905 established an office for joint practice with his brother Lewis under the firm name of Riddle & Riddle .
Through the ensuing years the firm of Riddle & Riddle planned and successfully executed many important commissions in Chicago, including the Plymouth Congregational Church (c.1915), buildings for the Theological Seminary, University of Chicago (1928), the First Baptist Church, and the Mather Tower on East Wader Drive. In the last named building the partners maintained an office for several years.
