Career
Entered London and Westminster Bank, 1873. Joined Cape Mounted Riflemen, 1875, and served till 1879 (medal with clasp, 1877-1878-79). Captain in Native Contingent, Basuto War, 1880-1881 (despatches).
Sub-Inspector in Cape Police, 1883. Sub-Inspector in Basutoland Mounted Police, 1884. Inspector, 1886; Assistant Commissioner in Basutoland, 1889.
Government Secretary, Basutoland, 1898. Fellow of Royal Colonial Institute. Resident Commissioner, British Basutoland, South Africa, since 1900.
