Crow, Herman Denton was born on April 15, 1851 in Delaware, Ohio, United States. Son of Thomas Denton and Henrietta (Downs) Crow.
Bachelor of Arts, Ohio Wesleyan University, 1871, A.M., 1887, Doctor of Laws, 1911 (Doctor of Laws, Washington State College, 1908).
Admitted to Ohio bar, 1873. Practiced at Urbana, 1875-1886, Winfield, Kansas, 1886-1890, Spokane, Washington, 1890-1905. City solicitor, Urbana, 1876-1881.
Member state Executive Committee League Republican Clubs of Kansas, 1888. Member Washington Senate, 1 short and 1 full 1898-1903 (chairman judicial committee 8th Assembly). Republican presidential elector, 1904.
Appointed justice Supreme Court by Governor Mead, January 1905. Elected on Republican ticket for short term, 1906-1909, and for full term, on non-partisan ticket, 1909-1915. Reëlected for term 1915-1921.
