In 1847 he went to Stockholm and founded celebrated Quartet Soirees. In 1849 he was a royal music director at Ore bro. Later he worked as a court-conductor, a teacher of composition at the Academy, a professor and a member of ditto.
He was the pupil of his father, Karl B. (1801-1957), a flute player from Germany.
