Hernani Almeida is a Cape Verdean musician, having started at age 7 his musical career via a small keyboard switching at the age of 14 to the electric guitar, an instrument that became his brand image.

Career

After 1989 he joined the group"s musical Mick Lima appears in 1994 with his rock band named What, which drew the attention as a guitarist of the music greats of Cape Verde. Between 2000 and 2004 he learned classical music and jazz at the Conservatory of Music of Porto in Portugal.

In 2004 he worked again with the Tcheka in the album Nu Monda where he was the musical director This album is rewarded with the prize "Découvertes RFI (Radio France International) Musique du Monde". In 2005 he was named Best Guitarist and in 2006 Best New Artist award "national Nôs Music" award given annually to recognize the best Cape Verdean artists.

Finally, at the age of 28, he decides to record his first solo album, called Afronamim.

Meanwhile, he pursued his career, id est (that is), a producer and musical arranger. Afronamim was his first solo Civil Defense, Hernani and surrounded themselves with a private trio, made up of musicians who usually play with Cesaria Évora, to save ten instrumental songs, influenced by different musical currents, African and jazz federal by some Creole soul and traditional rhythms as warm and coladeira funaná.
