Hidegoro Kanasugi was born the second of Yoemon Kanasugi of Chiba Prefecture but later adopted by his uncle Tadashi Kanasugi.

Hidegoro Kanasugi was born the second of Yoemon Kanasugi of Chiba Prefecture but later adopted by his uncle Tadashi Kanasugi.
Hidegoro Kanasugi graduated from Medical Department of Tokyo University (1887), following year went to Germany where he received degree of Doctor of Medicine.
In 1892 Hidegoro Kanasugi established at Surugadai, Kanda, Tokyo, a nose, ear and throat hospital which was the first of its kind in Japan. He received degree in medicine (1901) and was elected to House of Representatives (1917). Hidegoro Kanasugi edited Japan Medical Weekly, attended International Labor Conference held in Washington, U.S., as adviser to Delegate of Japanese Government (1919); was reappointed member of Central Sanitary Association (1920). He became member of Educational Administration Research Council (1921), same year was appointed president of Jikei-kai (The Charity Association) Hospital in Tokyo. He became member of House of Peers (1922). He held additional posts as director of Japan Doctors' Mutual Assistance Life Insurance Company and Akasen Clinical Thermometer Manufacture Company, Inc.
Later served successively as member of Extraordinary Board of Education director of the same commission, chief director of Great Japan Private Sanitary Association and president of Tokyo Medical Association.
