Hidekazu Yanagida was born in 1905 in Maizuru, Kyoto, Japan.
Hidekazu Yanagida graduated from Okayama Medical College in 1932. Entered the 2nd Internal Treatment Section of Medical Department of Kyoto University in 1932 and then proceeded to Postgraduate Department of the same university in 1935.
Hidekazu Yanagida became director of Maizuru Health Center in 1944. Served as mayor of Maizuru City (1950-1952). He was elected twice to House of Representatives on Left-Wing Socialist Party ticket (1952 and 1953). As representative of the three organizations went to Shanghai on the Takasago Maru, the ship that carried the first group of Japanese repatriated from Communist China (1953).
Hidekazu Yanagida was a chairman of Control Committee and chief investigator of Policy Council of Japan Socialist Party, chairman of Kyoto Prefectural League of the same party, president of Maizuru City Amateur Athletic Association and chairman of Maizuru Branch of Japan Shogi (Japanese chess) League.
