Hayashi, Hidetaka was born on December 5, 1943 in Fukuoka, Japan. Son of Fujimaru and Michiko Hayashi.


Bachelor in Electrical Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Tokyo, 1964. Master in Electrical Engineering, Tokyo Metropolitan University, 1966.


Engineer Research and Development telecommunications cables Fujikura Ltd., Tokyo, 1968-1969, project member management information system, 1969-1979, assistant manager Research and Development telecommunications cables, 1979-1981, manager Research and Development electronic materials and components, 1981-1987, general manager Flexible Printed Circuits engineering, 1987-1994, general manager engineering and marketing electronic products, since 1994, general manager Research and Development Planning, 2001—2003. Associate researcher University Tokyo, 2003—2006, research fellow, since 2006. Director Japan Science Technology Agency Research Institute of Science Technology Society, since 2004.
