Takatori Hidetsugu was a Japanese surgeon of the early Edo Period.
Background
Takatori Hidetsugu was born in Harima (Hyogo Prefecture), about 1600.
Career
Hidetsugu Takatori began practicing medicine he became to be known as Jinemon. With the advent of the Dutch during the Keicho Era (1573-1613) and the introduction of new methods of surgery he was pushed out of the field though he tenaciously clung to the ancient art of surgery. He is the author of several books on ancient surgery.
